Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio-based Americhem has launched nPure™ and nZorb™, two per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances-free functional additive technologies for fiber and nonwoven applications. Incorporated into the polymer matrix, the platforms are designed to provide odor control and moisture management without relying on separate topical treatments.
nPure is designed to capture and reduce malodors without fragrances, biocides or antimicrobial chemistries. Americhem reports that independent testing demonstrated adsorption of sweat, body odor and selected volatile organic compounds. The technology is compatible with polypropylene, polyethylene, polyester and bicomponent fiber systems.
Engineered for polypropylene-based fiber and nonwoven systems, nZorb improves wetting, wicking, absorbency and liquid transport. Potential applications include hygiene products, medical materials, wipes, filtration, textiles, automotive interiors and packaging.
“Manufacturers are increasingly looking for material solutions that solve multiple performance challenges without adding manufacturing complexity,” said Parminder Agarwal, chief technology officer at Americhem. “nPure and nZorb demonstrate how masterbatch formulation, polymer compatibility, and fiber processing work together to deliver application-specific functionality within the polymer matrix.” Americhem.com
