IDEA 2016: strong growth and confirmed investments
By Adrian Wilson, Correspondent
Attracting over 7,000 attendees and 555 exhibitors, INDA’s IDEA16, held in Boston from May 2-5, broke all previous exhibitor and attendee records and the buoyancy of the North American nonwovens industry was very apparent. Yet on a global level, two factors continue to exert a strong influence – the progress of China and the price of oil.

Comoli’s new pirn winder E200: a revolutionary concept combined with cutting-edge technology
Comoli’s E200 is a spindle driven winder designed to reach a speed of 3500 m/min that makes it suitable for direct spinning lines for continuous filament yarns, both multi-filament and mono-filament, of polyamide 6 and 66, polyester, polypropylene and other chemical fibers.
It provides an extremely precise package formation, based on parallel random winding combined with electronic traverse system. It offers the possibility of designing the shape and the tapering of the bi-conical output package, with both symmetric and also asymmetric (pineapple structure, for example) package sides.
Fiber lines for multiple fiber applications
With the development of more diversified post-consumer products for technical applications or nonwovens, fiber producers are challenged to produce an increasingly high variety of fiber types, even though most of the fiber consumption is used for spun yarns for the production of textiles, which are mainly “cotton-type” fibers. Polyester plays a dominant role and is still growing worldwide with a 4% average per year.
