GTC has been supplying custom-engineered solutions to meet a variety of industry needs including those in the medical, sports, safety, aerospace, apparel and defense industries. Through a steady process of growth, powered by adaptation and acquisitions, GTC’s third-generation family ownership has afforded the leadership and vision needed to survive and thrive in the challenging U.S. textile industry.

The current medical crisis fine-tuned the focus of GTC. With a shortage of PPE (personal protective equipment) at the onset of the pandemic,

GTC chose to stop all non-essential fabric production and committed to the manufacture of fabrics for medical supplies, medical and non-medical masks, hospital gowns, medical bandages and hospital curtains.

Gehring is able to supply traditional fabrics for mainstream industries, but also to engineer custom fabric solutions.

Gehring had already been producing these products but fine-tuned its focus to accommodate increased demand due to the crisis. The biggest adjustment was adhering to CDC and WHO guidelines for social distancing and mask-wearing while working closely in manufacturing facilities. A COVID Task Force was formed to assist employees and owners in traversing this delicate and confusing time, as Gehring remained fully staffed with about 10-25% working from home at any given time (dependent upon federal, state and local guidelines).

The Task Force provided employees and their families, and each facilities local community, with masks for their safety while also providing hand sanitizers, sanitizing stations and sanitizing sprays in easy reach throughout each facility in conjunction with continual and constant cleaning throughout each location.

During the manufacturing process, Gehring uses multiple filtration systems for air, water and fuels. GTC prides itself on providing a safe working environment for employees while simultaneously working to keep the environment clean.

As the country, and the world, get back to some semblance of normal, GTC is, as well. Gehring is a forerunner in textiles manufacturing, able to supply traditional fabrics for mainstream industries, but also to engineer custom fabric solutions. The company has able to traverse a global pandemic while helping fellow citizens in surviving and thriving during scary times.

Gehring Tricot has come a long way from creating laces, but there is so much potential still to discover.
