Nonwovens to take center stage

INDA, the Association for the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, will convene the nonwovens industry at its triennial IDEA conference and exhibition, March 28-31, 2022, in Miami Beach, Florida.

IDEA22 expects to attract 6,500+ senior-level delegates and 500+ exhibitors from myriad industry sectors, including absorbent hygiene, wipes, filtration, medical/surgical products, including personal protective equipment, home & office furnishings, transportation, geosynthetics and building construction sectors from over 60 countries. The 2022 event marks the 21st anniversary of IDEA, with the show originating in 1971.

Most of the leading suppliers of nonwoven technology will be on hand at IDEA22, with many new technology announcements expected to happen at the show. More than 500 exhibitors are planned.

Conference program

IDEA22’s conference program will address the pandemic impacts on the global nonwoven supply chain and prospects for recovery in China, South America, Asia, North America, and Europe. The conference program will be led by presenters from Fitesa, INDA, EDANA, China Nonwovens and Industrial Textiles Association (CNITA), and the Asia Nonwoven Fabrics Association (ANFA).

China
“Overview and Green Innovation Development of China’s Nonwovens Industry”

Guimei Li, vice president of the China Nonwovens & Industrial Textiles Association (CNITA), will lead a presentation analyzing the production, investment, sales, import and export, proportion of end-use of China’s nonwovens, as well as the opportunities and challenges brought by COVID-19.

South America
“Land of Opportunity or Land of Turbulence? The Recent History and Trends That Are Shaping the South American Nonwovens Market”

Mariana Mynarski, corporate marketing manager for Fitesa, will lead a presentation focused on nonwoven market trends in South America. In this session, Mynarski will share insights about recent geopolitical developments, industry movements and market trends that will shape the demand and supply of nonwovens in South America for the next decade.

“Asian Nonwovens Market Update”

The Asia Nonwoven Fabrics Association will lead a presentation on how the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the Asian nonwovens industry. The presentation will update trends and features of nonwovens production including technology and applications in Asia and each Asian country and region.

North America
“Understanding the State of the North American Nonwovens Industry and a Market Gone Mad”

Brad Kalil, INDA’s director of market intelligence & economic insights, will discuss the market changes in demand and supply as the North American nonwovens industry responded, and still responds, to the COVID-19 crisis. Specifically, the presentation will present a pre-pandemic view of the nonwovens markets, the current state, and a look into the future.

Europe
“An Overview of Key Issues Facing Nonwovens on Top of European Market Trends”

Pierre Wiertz, general manager of EDANA, will offer a presentation that reflects on some of the COVID-19 challenges and the responses which, both in Europe and globally, the nonwovens industry will have to bring out if it is to continue to prosper and match end-users’ expectations and perceived benefits.

IDEA Achievement Awards

The IDEA Achievement Awards will honor innovations in the nonwovens and engineered materials industry across six categories. INDA in partnership with Nonwovens Industry magazine will jointly present the awards. Achievement Awards categories include:

Short courses

IDEA22 will also offer a series of short-course training opportunities called “Nonwoven Essentials,” led by industry experts. Courses will cover the basics of nonwovens, industrial wipes, consumer wipes, absorbent hygiene cores, and patent searching.

Each course provides a detailed overview designed to give newcomers basic skills or to enhance their knowledge about new business strategies.
