Xenia Materials, global player in engineering and manufacturing of reinforced thermoplastic composites, recently introduced the HM Upgrade (High Modulus), a technology developed to enhance stiffness and structural response of carbon fiber reinforced materials through the use of high modulus fibers.
Reinforced thermoplastic composites are widely adopted in applications requiring high mechanical strength and structural stability. The HM Upgrade has been engineered to elevate the performance of these materials, providing compounds that meet increasingly challenging design requirements, where stiffness, lightweight and improved structural response are essential.
The HM technology enables a significant increase in material stiffness, with an average improvement of +15% in tensile modulus compared to traditional formulations, without affecting compound density and thus preserving intrinsic lightweight characteristics. At the same time, it enhances key mechanical properties, including an average +15% increase in both tensile strength at break and flexural modulus, contributing to improved structural stability even under high-load conditions.
In addition, impact resistance is enhanced, with average improvements of up to +20% depending on the polymer matrix, making these materials an advanced solution for lightweight structural applications where reliability and long-term mechanical performance are essential.
The HM Upgrade can be applied to the XECARB® material family and is already available on several polymer matrices, including PA66, PA6, PP, PPA, PEBA, PA11, PA12, PA4.10, PA6.10 and PA10.10. This technology enables the development of high-performance applications across a wide range of sectors: from aerospace and motorsport, where lightweight, stiffness, and dimensional stability are key, to demanding industrial and sports applications requiring impact resistance, structural reliability, and consistent performance over time.
