Over 105,000 visitors descended on Barcelona, Spain, from June 20-26 for this year’s ITMA textile technology exhibition, which takes place once every four years in Europe. The technologies of the 1,717 exhibitors from 45 countries on display are employed in producing a wide range of fiber-based products, ranging from clothing and home furnishings to more technical products, such as construction materials and reinforcements for composites.
Messe Frankfurt brought its Techtextil and Texprocess program to a global audience, May 14-17, 2019, in its home city of Frankfurt. With a total of 1,818 exhibitors from 59 countries and, in all, some 47,000 trade visitors from 116 countries, the event broke a record for number of exhibitors and was essentially on par with its all-time high for number of visitors. By comparison, the 2017 edition of Techtextil and Texprocess saw a total of 1,789 exhibitors from 66 countries and 47,388 visitors from 114 countries.
The majority of the members of Swissmem’s association of Swiss textile machinery manufacturers have their origins in technology for the processing of cotton fibers, and as the textile industry developed, synthetics. It has been calculated, in fact, that the association’s 44 members can draw on a staggering 4,011 years of combined engineering and processing know-how between them, but all have greatly diversified over the years.
Messe Frankfurt presented the North American edition of its Techtextil conference, Feb. 26-28 in Raleigh, North Carolina. The conference, which aims to serve the full scope of the technical textile industry from research and development through to the end product, leveraged its location in the heart of the U.S. textile industry to attract more than 3,000 attendees.
